After having my first child in Kingston hospital in 1988 and realizing there had to be a better way, I came to you and you recorded a special hypnosis tape which I used for the next hospital birth, and two more home births of my children (four children altogether), and WHAT A DIFFERENCE having that tape with headphones made. In the hospital it created my own peaceful world and allowed me to avoid any need of painkillers whatsoever. Nurses were amazed. She had a way of talking me through contractions. Her soothing voice, her way of conjuring just the right image to take me away. She was able to bring me to find a place where the pain was not in charge. My son's birth was difficult and he spent his first week in an incubator. There were a dozen people in the room when he finally made it out into the world, not screaming, barely breathing. It was certainly a traumatic experience. Ben has had no health problems since that time. He is now a bright and active seven year old with a wonderful sense of humor.
When I was expecting my daughter, I chose to have Frayda as my coach. The idea of the father in a coaching role at this time is unrealistic, in my opinion. Shouldn't he be allowed to have feelings and get support for himself during what can be a very scary time? Frayda really came through again for us. She was an invisible scaffold at times. She seemed to know exactly when to come forward and when to fall back. My husband and I both relied on her. Everything went so well. Lily was born under water with no complications at all. She is a powerful force at two and a half.
